MaX5 Rounds 4 / 5 Pembrey

9th Jun 2007 - 10th Jun 2007

Race 1:

Sheard battled with Greensmith in a dramatic and exciting race. The two drivers broke free early on only to be caught by Roche as he set the fastest lap. The leading pair swapped places 6 or 7 times over the duration but it was Sheard coming out on top taking the chequered flag.

Ben Taylor put in a stunning performance having impressed in testing the day before. He qualified 7th for race 1 and backed this up by a 10th place finish.

Race 2:

Race 2 saw Greensmith and Sheard open a small but significant lead early in the race. Both put in quick laps from the start and maintained the charge throughout; neither put much of a foot wrong. Sheard had hoped to throw in a late attack to end a clean and calculated race in front … time ran out … Greensmith took the win. Sheard took the fastest lap point in race 2.

Ben Taylor repeated the performance of the previous day and secured a starting position 9th on the grid for race 2. Ben got off to a good start but mid-race a number of places were lost following nudge from behind that pushed him onto the grass. He fought back admirably to take 11th place.

Team:

Paul Sheard commands a 5 point lead in the Championship, a narrow margin considering each competitor can drop the lowest two results achieved at the end.

For Ben Taylor the weekend represented his best performances yet, he now sits 10th in the Championship table.

James Maxfield put the work in during Friday testing and the weekend ahead looked fabulously positive. James didn’t repeat the form but nether the less this represented a good step forward early in his racing career.

Andy Boulton took 23rd place 2 days running, and, if all’s fair, he ought to be behind the wheel again soon!

Steve Price 19th and 21st in race 1 and race 2 respectively.
